a Paz a major city of Bolivia, is settled on a highly dense hydrological system as part of a complex sequence of valleys and hills, in which the riverbanks are the ground to develop urbanization.

River valleys consequently present a contradictory image: when plain and open they become the central spaces of the city once the rivers are covered; and when steep and narrow they become neglected dumping areas where the rivers remain open.

The project imagines how these backside valleys can become potential open areas by valorizing the natural performance of a blue and green system. As urbanization has consumed most of the areas in the city, open space that preserves a natural vocation becomes the most evident challenge for the city. The project assumes an integration of Landscape and Architecture as these backside valleys have the opportunity to contain a mixity of public and private programs that the city is not able to afford on its regular base of development.
