he west station of Brussels provides the opportunity to rethink mobility as a potential instrument for the transformation of the public space. Once a prosperous industrial valley the western side across the pentagon of Brussels, struggles nowadays to be integrated in the city.

As the area gains new attractiveness thanks to the opening of the West train station and the completition of the central metro loop, it becomes one of the most accessible areas configuring a potential enlargement of the Brussels pentagon.

A new gate in the back of the station simultaneously requalifies marginal spaces along the railway as an extension of the existing natural areas. In the front the collection of undefined spaces are transformed into a large urban platform positioning the station as the main structuring place of the area, while re-introducing itself into the city with an assertive identity.
